Since glazes react very sensitively to temperature differences, uniform temperature distribution in the kiln is vital for the subsequent appearance of the items.

In order to do this, the items are distributed as evenly as possible in the kiln, with items which are approximately the same size on each level.

The bases of the items must not be glazed, or must be separated from the contact surface with stilts.
